26650 battery is a type of cylindrical lithium battery commonly used in electric tools, lighting fixtures, electric toy robots, and more. This battery model, identified by its dimensions, has a diameter of 26mm and a length of 65mm, making it cylindrical. Common types include those made with nickel cobalt manganese cathode materials or lithium iron phosphate materials, such as the INR26650-3.7V-4500mAh and IFR26650-3.2V-3200mAh 26650 lithium ion battery.
26650 Battery Advantages
26650 rechargeable battery offers excellent performance in terms of overcharging and over-discharging protection, and it is not prone to short-circuiting. After completing standard charging, the battery’s initial state is checked. If normal, it is charged at a 3C current until it reaches 10.0V, then switched to constant voltage charging until the current drops to 0.01C before stopping. The battery is then discharged at 0.5C to 0V, with no changes to its appearance.
In another test, after completing standard charging, 26650 battery is placed in an explosion-proof cover and directly short-circuited (with a total circuit resistance of no more than 50mΩ). The test ends when the battery temperature drops to about 10℃ below the peak temperature, and the battery shows no abnormalities.
Usage Tips
When using 26650 batteries, it is crucial to avoid charging at excessively high temperatures. Using the battery in environments above the specified operating temperature (above 35°C) will result in a continuous decrease in battery capacity, reducing its runtime. Charging the battery at high temperatures can cause even more severe damage. Storing the battery in hot environments will inevitably affect its quality. Therefore, maintaining an appropriate operating temperature is an effective way to extend the battery’s lifespan.
Application Areas
The application range of the 26650 battery is not as broad as that of the 18650 battery. The 18650 lithium battery is widely used in lighting fixtures, industrial supporting lithium battery packs, electric tool batteries, electric bicycle batteries, and power lithium battery packs. In contrast, the 26650 battery is primarily used in integrated solar street light lithium battery packs, energy storage base stations, and solar energy storage batteries.
Maximizing Efficiency
To fully utilize the li-ion 26650 battery potential, it should be used regularly to keep the electrons within it flowing. If the battery is not used frequently, remember to complete a charging cycle every month, calibrate the power, and perform a deep discharge and deep charge.
