18650 and 21700 batteries are two common types of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries used in a variety of applications, including power tools, flashlights, and electronic devices.
The main difference between 18650 and 21700 batteries is their size and capacity. 18650 batteries have a diameter of 18mm and a length of 65mm, while 21700 batteries have a diameter of 21mm and a length of 70mm. Due to their larger size, 21700 batteries have a higher capacity and can provide more power than 18650 batteries.
Here are some other key differences and uses of each battery:
Capacity: 21700 batteries typically have a higher capacity than 18650 batteries, with some models offering up to 5000mAh of capacity. This makes them ideal for high-power devices that require long run times, such as electric vehicles, power banks, and drones.
Voltage: Both batteries have similar voltage ratings of 3.6-3.7V. However, some 21700 batteries have a higher voltage rating of 3.8-4.2V, which can provide more power to devices.
Different specifications: The 18650 lithium -ion batteries capacity is between 1200mAh and 3600mAh, but the technology is generally mature between 2000mAh and 3200mAh. The capacity of 21700 lithium -ion batteries is between 3000mAh and 5000mAh.
Size: The larger size of 21700 lithium ion battery makes them less suitable for smaller devices where space is limited, while 18650 batteries are more compact and can fit in a wider range of devices.
Cost: 18650 batteries are more commonly available and tend to be less expensive than 21700 batteries.
In general, 18650 batteries are a good choice for smaller devices where space is limited and capacity is less of a concern, while 21700 batteries are better suited for larger devices that require more power and longer run times. However, the specific battery you choose will depend on the specific requirements of your device, so it’s important to check the manufacturer’s recommendations and specifications before choosing a battery.
